UX Design & Architecture for auto dealership inventory management.
Dealer Market Exchange required UX collaboration and guidance for its products, all centered around services that enable auto dealerships to grade, sell and auction their inventory. Dealerships could push their inventory to an international exchange, as well as participate in searches for autos from other dealerships. Aside from the dashboard application, the products were all mobile.
Starting from the premise that the dashboard would be the core for all data and activity management, the application scope was analyzed, user research was obtained and summarized, and UX was designed that addressed all high priority processes required. Visual design was already existing.
Working closely with the CTO, functional analysts, the UI Designer and the product architect, priorities were established; a continual collaboration between all supported the UX (low fidelity comps to high fidelity wire frames), as the dashboard was designed, feature by feature. Iterative prototyping with daily stand-ups ensured that any new customer data and feedback from internal teams was reflected in the prototypes. Slack and Hangouts were key communications tools.
Research of the successful international design patterns helped to establish a communications approach for executive leadership - as well as a sensitivity to cultural business concerns.
Having recently come through the 18-month overhaul, leadership shelved the proposal for a future time.
