Designing a new UI for an outdated application.
HEALTHCAREfirst provides software for home health and hospice agencies. The company had undergone an extensive overhaul of its flagship application, which included a brand update. Almost 18 months of effort was invested, led by marketing's brand refresh.
No UX, UI or Visual Design was involved in this effort; the results understandably yielded significant challenges that became evident as the company sought to address customer feedback, usability/accessibility concerns and a growing perception that HEALTHCAREfirst was an outdated application, not keeping current with its competition.
Focusing on key screens in the most common workflows, a new vision was presented to leadership that addressed the most dominant problems with the UI, while presenting a revised approach to the corporate brand palette that would be tailored for product use.
Additional concerns were presented, among which were an outdated front-end technology stack and the need for complete UX overhaul of key workflows based on user feedack, supported by user testing.
Having recently come through the 18-month overhaul, leadership shelved the proposal for a future time.
